Abstract (EN)
Problems such as increasing energy consumption and CO2 emissions have been effective in increasing studies on the efficient use of energy. Considering the energy consumption in residential, it is seen that comfort-related applications such as heating and cooling constitute a significant part of total energy use. Therefore, utilizing renewable energy sources, making the use of these sources more efficient and using thermal energy storage systems to increase energy efficiency in residential has been an important issue that needs to be investigated. In this thesis study, it is aimed to produce innovative mortars with energy storage properties to increase building energy efficiency. Composite phase change materials were produced using recycled sand as a support material to provide energy storage properties to mortars. Composite phase change materials were used in self-compacting mortar mixes by replacing aggregate in certain proportions and 48 different mortar mixes were designed. A multi-faceted study was conducted to investigate the thermal energy storage properties of the produced mortars, while also examining their durability characteristics. Thermal characterization of mortar samples containing 0%, 15%, 30% and 45% of composite phase change material was investigated by DSC analysis. The effect of silica fume and fly ash in mortars was also investigated. Experimental studies have shown that composite phase change materials provide energy storage properties to self-compacting mortar mixes.
