Abstract (EN)
The Shaybanids, who dominated the lands of Turkestan, India, and Iran and left their mark on the X-XI/XVI th centuries and dominated Transoxiana, Fergana, Andijan, Kashgar, and Khwarazm, did not receive sufficient attention, although they witnessed a very important period in the Turkish history. In this study, we translated and analyzed Mihmân-nâme-i Buhârâ, which talks about historical events that took place in 1508-1509, during the reign of Muhammed Shaybani Khan, who was the first ruler of the Shaybani Khanate and was titled the "father of conquests". This work has given rise to one of the most important works in the history of Islam and especially in the Turkish-Uzbek history and represents one of the works by Rûzbihân el-Huncî, who was a prominent religious scholar in the field of Islamic law and Kalam, professor, poet, politician, as well as a chronographer in the Shaybanid Palace. This great work was written in Bukhara in Shawwal of H 914/1508 by the idea and request of RuzbiHân and by the order of Shaybani Khan, while one part was written here; the remaining parts were completed on Friday, the 23rd of the Cemâziyelûlâ Month of 915 (Hijri calendar)/1509 in the Dormitory of the Herât Palace. This work tells us about the Uzbek-Kazakh community struggle, socioeconomic relations, lifestyles, surrounding geography, traditions, customs, habits, and important information about the religious and cultural structure of that period. Moreover, the work provides us with important geographical, historical, and political information about the locations of Uzbeks and Kazakhs, summer pastures, winter quarters, rivers, mountains, palaces, imârets (soup kitchens), steppes, and waters. The personality of Shaybani Khan, his wars with the Kazakhs, his policy, and religious thought are important in terms of the state structure at that time. It is also remarkable in terms of the visits of Shaybani Khan and Hunci to the graves of many scholars, including İmam Reza, and the information it provides us with about these structures. Although it is basically a history book, it also includes examinations and comments on some religious subjects through verses and hadiths due to the scientific and cultural environment in which the intellectuals of the period were raised. In this study, after completing a literary translation of Mihmân-nâme-i Buhârâ, one of the most important works in terms of Turkish and Islamic history and yet unknown to the Turkish scientific community and evaluating Rûzbihân el-Hunci based on Mihmân-nâme-i Buhârâ, we also discussed his works, scientific scope, his life, his view of a sect and religion. In addition, we evaluated the religious-sectarian and social structure of that period within the framework of this work. Evaluating the Safavid Movement with a religious-political character, which emerged during Hunci's lifetime, in the Uzbek-Kazakh-Safavid-Ottoman context, it is very important to determine to what extent the Sunni-Shiite conflict is among the reasons guiding Hunci's attitude and writings, for correct evaluation of this historical process.
