Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of mathematical activities combined with philosophical inquiry on the questioning skills of gifted students. In the study, descriptive and explanatory case study method was used as a qualitative research method. The randomly selected 5th grade students attending Bornova Sehit Fatih Satır Science and Art Center has been the sampling of this study. Data collection tools are worksheets, semi-structured interviews, direct observations and voice recordings. In order to determine the level of questions asked by the students, "Mathematical Inquiry Question Quadrant (MIQQ) which was formed by the researcher with expert opinions. It has been observed that the mathematical activities combined with philosophical inquiry would enable the development of questioning skills of gifted studens in activities of the average number of questions and the types of questions. In addition, when used in classifying questions that occured during the MIQQ's mathematical inquiry process encourages students to ask high-level questions in the courses, improves their understanding and eases the follow-up of the inquiry process.
