Abstract (EN)
The main goal of this study is to analyze science teacher candidates' approaches towards biology in terms of their attitudes, motivations and learning approaches. The model of this research is Relational Screening Model. The sample group consists of 581 teacher candidates. So as to determine, for the purpose of the research, their biology motivations, the "Biology Motivation Scale" was developed. Besides, as data collection tools, Learning Approach Scale, adapted by Yenilmez (2006), and Biology Attitude Scale, developed by Arıcak and Ilgaz (2007), have been used. In order to study the effects of sub-dimensions of Learning Approach Scale and of Biology Motivation Scale on the factors of class levels, academic average and achievement perception, which are demographical features, an all-around MANOVA has been conducted, while an all-around ANOVA test has been carried out to study these effects on biological attitude. Also, with a view to establishing the relationship between Biology Attitude Scale, sub-dimensions of Learning Approach Scale and sub-dimensions of Biology Motivation Scale, Pearson Coefficient of Correlation has been calculated. Consequently, compound independent variable interactive with classroom level, the academic average has shown a meaningful difference in specialization goal and affective approach goal. Compound independent variable interactive with classroom level, academic average and success perception has shown a meaningful difference on meaningful learning approach. Classroom-level and the academic average interactive compound independent variable has shown a meaningful difference on attitude, and classroom level, academic average and success perception interactive compound independent variable has shown a meaningful difference on attitude. Additionally, while specialization goal has a positive moderate relationship with attitude, meaningful learning approach, affective approach goal and cognitive approach goal, it has been observed to have a negative low-level meaningful relation with avoidance performance goal.
