The relationship between the emotional intelligence levels and success in science(on account of genetics) of candidate science education teachers

Emotional intelligence is the capacity to perceive emotions in oneself and other people, to understand the differences between one`s own and other people emotions by this way and to orient own feelings with the help of this distinction. Emotional intelligence is a concept where to improve and appreciate is expected to be beneficial for both educators and learners. The comprehension of the concept would be profitable for undergraduate level science education students regarding their dense interaction in the context of faculty, dormitory, city etc. while continuing their professional education. The basic aim of the study is to interrogate the relationship among the emotional intelligence levels, success in Science ( on account of Genetics), the gender of the students and their attributes towards science. The research was descriptive. 104 Science Education undergraduate level last year student of Gazi University Gazi Education Faculty incorporated into the research as samples. Applications were made at the end of the lecture hours and final examinations. Materials of the study composed of 20 question ?Genetics Success Test?, 30 item ?Emotional Intelligence Evaluation Scale? and 18 item ?Perception and Attitude Scale against Science?. According to the findings of the reseach it has been concluded that there was no meaningful relationship among the undergraduate level science education students` emotional intelligence levels, their school performance and attributes towards science. In addition it was also found that the emotional intelligence levels of Science teacher candidates showed no significant change based on their gender.
