Examining the attitudes of science teacher candidates about plastics / microplastics in terms of some variables within the scope of environmental problems

Global climate change is caused by increasing environmental pollution as a result of rapid industrialisation and population growth. All living organisms in the air, on land, and in the sea are affected by the increase in environmental pollution. Microplastic research, which is one of the major causes of rising environmental pollution, was carried out as part of this study. A complete literature review of microplastics was undertaken, as well as research on the properties, sources, sizes, forms, and locations of microplastics. The demographic information form, the attitude scale towards the usage of Plastics/Microplastics, and the semi-structured interview form were used to collect data from pre-service teachers for the study. The environmental attitude questionnaire was analysed by examining the interview questions posed to pre-service science instructors as well as some covariates. The participants' views on microplastics were recorded. As a consequence of the study, recommendations were made to promote candidates' awareness of plastic, limit their usage of plastic, and strengthen punishments, such as plastic bag price.
