Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to detect the social media behaviors of high school of science and high school of social sciences students, and examine the results from two different schools with respect to different variables. The research is designed as a mixed model and the sample is taken from all the students who attend Kütahya Nafi Güral High School of Science and Kütahya High School of Social Sciences. The open questions from "Social Media Attitude Scale" that is developed by Argın (2013) are used to gather data, which is analyzed using frequency, percentile, average, standard deviation, t-test and one-way variance analysis methods. The analysis of the results shows that the social media behavior is determined by gender, level of income, educational background of parents, the time window to use social media, the frequency of social media usage, the time spent on social media and the specific social media platform. The analysis also provides that the school type has an effect on the shared content. In addition, this study determines that the students exhibit a positive attitude towards social media. It is being found out that students have been using social media for over 4 years during which time period they spend 61 to 120 minutes every day on different social media platforms.
