Observation of communication skills of students at science high school and sport high school

In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of effect in communication skills perception on a school basis education by observing the students' communication skills level at Science High School and Sport High School, to state social - demographic variables and present solution recommendations according to generated communication level. Kaya Karakaya Sports School and Kaya Karakaya Science High School and Cemil Meriç Science High School Which accept students according to teog grades and which are located in The Elazığ City center in the second term of 2013-2014 academic year, create the population of the Research. Kaya Karakaya Sports High School and Kaya Karakaya Science school which accepts students who get higher grades from teog between the existing schools create the sample. In this study, communication skills inventory which was developed by Ersanlı and Balcı (1998) is used. Inventory consists of 45 Likert-type questions. In this study, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, has been identified as 83. Research data is formed by the data of 114 students of Sports High School and 196 students of Science High School. In Analyzing Data IBM SPSS 21,0 software was used. Frequency distributions, one-way analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA) t - test was performed. p <0.05 was taken as Significance level (alpha error level). According to the results of the study, the students of sport High School are more effective at cognitive and behavioral communication skills on the other hand the students at science High School are more effective at sensual communication skills; females' communication skills' is at a higher level than males, and also a positive significant result on behalf of 12th Grade students are concluded. With these results, it is understood that sport courses and activities effect students' communication skills in a positive way and acts an important role on the development of their communication skills where as culture courses are more effective in their sensual communication skills.
