Actual and future oriented thoughts about nanotechnology of teacher canditates studying science teaching programme

In this study, tried to determine actual and future oriented thoughts about nanotechnology of teacher candidates who are presently studying science teaching programme in department of educational sciences.In the study, first, an extensive literature study was made of nanotechnology. A questionnaire for students prepared using the data obtained. Once prepared the survey, made pilot study of 15 students who are studying in Gazi University, Faculty of Education, Department of Biology Teaching, and then done one to one interviews with students and asked to evaluate critically the questionnaire statements. The final version of the survey are given after made the necessary arrangements on the poll with an adherence to the views of the students.Spring period 2009-2010, total 547 teacher candidates studying in classes 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th of Gazi University Education Faculty, Department of Biology Teaching, Department of Physics Teaching, Department of Chemistry Teaching, Department of Science and Technology Teaching were surveyed. Results were analyzed with the help of SPSS software.As a result, there is no difference between sections neither at the level of knowledge nor interest in nanotechnology. The majority of teacher candidates thought that did not have enough information about nanotechnology and unable to express their opinion, positive or negative.
