The views of teachers of science and techonology on constructivist approach in classroom studies (a sample of Diyarbakir city)

This research aims to clarify the views of Science and Technology teachers, who work in province of Diyarbakır on classroom aplications of constructivist approach. This research, in accordance with the teachers' opinions tries to determine on what points the Technology and Science teachers have problems at and to what extent they can use constructivist teaching in their classes. Phenomenological pattern is one of the qualitative research methods used in this study and teacher were selected with maximum variation sampling method. The study group consists of 30 Science and Technology teachers who work in the province of Diyarbakır. Semi structured interview form was used to collect data from teachers. Descriptive data analysis technique was used in the interpretation of the interview process. In the light of the findings of this research, it is found that Science and Technology teachers adopt a constructivist approach, but reasons such as low readiness levels of the students, crowded class sizes, inadequate 1st stage education of the students, insufficient time allocated to the course of the program, students? being unfamiliar to this kind of applications, and the teachers? not being well-informed about the program, cause teachers to use traditional ways in their classes.
