A research of supporter mentality of the Fenerbahçe Sport Clubs organized supporters

-131- ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to identify the supporters' mentality of the Fenerbahçe Sport Clubs organized supporters. Fenerbahçe Sport Clubs organized supporters composed the population of the study and the sample of this study consisted of 553 organized supporters who were randomly living in Istanbul. According to face to face interviews with association administration it determined 7000 members of eight associations and one foundation. Consequently, sample group created % 7,9 of organized member supporter. A questionnaire, which aimed to identify the selection reasons why the supporters have chosen their favorite team, the reasons why they have been supporters, the supporters identification levels with their team, the violence and fair play understanding of the supporters was conducted, to the participants of the study in the preparation of the questionnaire, subject area experts opinions and offers were taken into consideration. In the reliability and validity process, the instrument was conducted on a pre-group (n=84) and interviews were made. By the help of data that taken by questionnaire the reliability and validity analyze had done, the reliability factor of 34 titles had been found as a:0,89 and the last formal of the questionnaire had been made. In the analysis of the data SPSS 13.0 package program was used.-132- In statistical analysis, frequency and percentages of the data was taken. According to the normality tests, One-Way ANOVA was conducted on the normally distributed data and Man- Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests were conducted on the data which were not normally distributed. According to the variance homogeneity Tamhane and Tukey Post-Hoc Multiple Comparison tests was conducted and the results were put into tables. The error level was 0,05. According to the study results, it is identified that the big proportion of the supporters were composed of males, they were occupied freely, were having good income level with high level education and also it is identified that the big proportion of them, were members to give power to their team, were attending all the matches of Fenerbahçe Sport Club in Istanbul. The results also revealed that the big proportion of the supporters daily life was affected with match performance of their team history, success and popularity of club had an effect on their fan ship behavior, also results pointed that Galatasaray their most dislike team and the participants of the study would not be supporter of any other team and not violence but fair play was their choice.
