SIMULTANEOUS ARSENIC AND CHROMIUM REMEDIATION FROMWATER BY FENTON AND IRON SULFATE / DICROMATE OXIDATION ONZERO VALENT IRON(M.Sc. Thesis)Gizem UĞURLUGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJune 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, As and Cr remediation process by Fenton?s andFeSO4/dichromate reagent was applied on water samples. For thisremoval purpose optimization studies was practised on Fe0 granulecolumn. The maximum removal efficiency is obtained in 150 g Fe (0)column with 40 mg FeSO4/20 µL H2O2 and 40 mg FeSO4/20 mg K2Cr2O7at pH 3 for 100 mL samples. The effect of water hardness wasinvestigated within the removal capacity of As and Cr contaminatedwater. It was observed that water hardness increases the removalcapacity of As and Cr. The same method was applied to tap water whichcontains As and Cr, and to Ankara stream water.
