Abstract (EN)

Aim: This research was carried out to determine the effect of training given in line with the health promotion model to increase fertility awareness on fertility awareness in women. Material and Method: The first stage of the research, which was carried out in two stages, was methodological, and the second stage was carried out as a pretest-posttest control group experimental model. In the first stage, "Fertility Awareness Scale (FFS)" was developed on 480 women. Fertility awareness training was given to women in the experimental group in three sessions. The research data were collected between July 2019 and March 2020 using "Personal Information Form" and "FFS". Descriptive statistics in statistical analysis, t test in dependent and independent groups, content validity, AFA, DFA, Cronbach's α reliability coefficient, test-retest analysis were used. Results: As a result of AFA, it was determined that FFS was composed of 19 items and 2 sub-dimensions. DFA supported the 2-factor scale structure resulting from AFA. As a result of CFA, good fit index values were obtained. Before the fertility awareness training carried out at the second stage, the pre-test mean scores of the women in the experimental and control groups obtained from the total and sub-dimensions of FFS were similar (p> 0.05). After the training provided, the FFS physical awareness sub-dimension post-test mean mean was 37.58 ± 6.59 in the experimental group, 32.14 ± 7.17 in the control group, the cognitive awareness sub-test post-test mean was 28.81 ± 5.11 in the experimental group, and 24.66 ± 5.96 in the control group. 66.39 ± 10.53 in the experimental group, 56.81 ± 12.20 in the control group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that FFS was a valid and reliable measurement tool. It was determined that the training given in line with the Health Promotion Model may increase the fertility awareness level of women. Keywords: Midwifery, education, fertility awareness, scale, health promotion model.
