Abstract (EN)
In figurative ceramic sculptures which have been ongoing since prehistoric times and today, works of aesthetic concern and artistic purpose have been produced. When the past and present works are compared, it is seen how much the figurative ceramic sculpture has changed and developed. Sculpture artists should produce in line with the basic elements of ceramics such as shaping, drying, glaze, texture and firing. The element that affects these stages the most is clay. The properties of the selected clay should be well known by the artist. It is very important to know the properties of the clay such as its structure, texture, size, plasticity, strength, firing color, firing degree, water absorption values, shrinkage after firing. İn this research, the effects of clay used in figurative ceramic sculpture art were examined and the works of some artists, which were thought to be exemplary, were investigated. In the application part, the effects of the clay on the artifacts revealed by using red, fireclay and white clay have been proven. It is thought that it will be a guide in future studies by examining its advantages and disadvantages. Keywords: Ceramics, sculpture, figurative ceramic sculpture art, clay
