Abstract (EN)

The study titled "The Colonization Process in Ivory Coast (1893-1960)" aims to contribute to the learning of Ivory Coast's history. Through outthisstudy, the colonial process of the Ivory Coast has been laid out. It shall be shown in this study that the colonization of the Ivory Coast by the French, which simply put is exploitation, was a deliberate act that took into considerati on the French interestsonly, but not only that, the study shall, subsequently, show that the French were not only after financial gains but also aimed at colonizing minds by keeping national education in stitutions under control, during that period. This study will further reveal that the Francophone Project put into practice in Ivory Coast was a way for the French to establish their culture as an alternative to local languages and that in the pursuit of becoming the dominant way of thinking among thepeople. The study also proposes a return to the national culture of the Ivory Coast as the first and most significant step toward severing the bond with colonialism. Another point that will be touch upon by this study is that fact that, despite their refusal to be exploited, national architectural works of the Ivory people are rendered invisible while the national structures of the colonial French maintain their existence, to this day, in almost every region of Ivory Coast. Based on this, the study will argue that there is a need to perpetuate the national heritage of the country, but at the same time, a national education curriculum should be put in place so that indigenous people can learn the real story of the Ivory people who resisted the colonial process. This studyalsoshows that between 1893 and 1960, the colonization of Ivory Coast by the French was not limited to the exploitation of natural resources, but French colonial governors in the country will be addressed and the damages inflicted on the country will be determined.
