Abstract (EN)

As a result of the increase in the competitive environment in developing countries with the globalization experienced all over the world, the healthy operation of banks depends on their ability to manage the risks they are exposed to. Risk management processes have a great impact on the success of financial institutions, where financial permeability and transparency increase with globalization, especially during financial crisis periods created by global crises such as pandemic (Covid-19). Banks also owe their strong and solid structure to having a good risk management process. In our country, the risk management process is meticulously followed by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) and public authorities. In this study, it is aimed to provide information about risk management by comparing the balance sheets of a public bank between the years 2018-2021 and to examine the risk changes by making use of the banking ratios of the relevant public bank between the years 2017- 2020. At the same time, it is aimed to examine the changes in balance sheet items in the crisis and post-crisis periods between 2008-2021 by making use of the financial statements of the Turkish Banking sector. As a result of the study, it has been seen that the public bank has a strong capital structure in risk management despite the financial fragility in crisis periods and they determine risk management processes in line with legal regulations by measuring in accordance with international standards.
