Abstract (EN)

Chess is a game which is played between two players on eight by eight grid gameboard with chess pieces. The purpose of the player involved the game is to checkmate the opponent's king. The game was founded around 6th B.C. in İndia. The work which is known as Şatranç-nâme in Ottoman Prose field was written by Firdevsî-i Rûmî in 1503. Starting up to the common tradition of Ottoman Prose , the work first mentions about the history of the game and after that it instructs orders of the game. The work which was written in becoming classic era of Ottoman Turkish is a prose showing poetic features from place to place . The Şatranç-nâme can be defined as a simple prose by taking into consideration of its wording. This thesis includes transcription , index and examination of Şatranç-nâme.
