Abstract (EN)

Firdevsî-i Rûmî, also known as Uzun Firdevsî, lived between the late fifteenth and the early sixteenth centuries. Born in 1453 (857 AH), the exact date of his death remains unknown. A highly productive and encyclopedic author, Firdevsî's most important work is the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr, an eighty-one-volume composition written in a mixed prose–verse style. Focusing mainly on the legendary and hagiographical life of Prophet Solomon, the work covers a variety of disciplines, including medicine, Sufism, history, mythology, and the history of prophets, reflecting a rich and diverse intellectual content. This study is based on the manuscript of the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr held in the Chester Beatty Library in Ireland under archive number T 406, registered in the name of Firdevsî Bursavî, and it examines the third volume of the work. The thesis includes three main sections: "Introduction," "Analysis," and "Text." The Introduction offers general information about Firdevsî's life, literary character, and works, with special focus on the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr. The Analysis section provides a detailed examination of the third volume, examining both its form and content. The Text section presents a transliterated edition of the third volume based on the Chester Beatty manuscript.
