Abstract (EN)

Firdevsî-i Rûmî (also known as Uzun Firdevsî) was a highly prolific author who lived at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. His most significant work is the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr, a monumental composition spanning 81 volumes, written in a mixed style of prose and verse. The work narrates the legendary and mythical life of Prophet Solomon (Hz. Süleyman), detailing the events he experienced. Moreover, the text encompasses a wide array of disciplines, including medicine, Sufism, history, mythology, and the history of the prophets. This study is based on the manuscript copy of the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr preserved under the name of Firdevsî Bursavî in the Chester Beatty Library in Ireland, catalogued with the archival number T 406. The primary focus and scope of the research comprise a detailed analysis, transcription, and presentation of the fourth volume of the Süleymân-nâme. The study is divided into three main sections: "Introduction," "Analysis," and "Text." The Introduction provides general information about Firdevsî's life, literary persona, his works, and the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr. The Analysis section examines the fourth volume of the Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr in detail in terms of both form and content. Finally, the Text section presents the transcription of the fourth volume based on the Chester Beatty manuscript.
