Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY In this study, the effects of regional economic integration on mergers have been analized as to the reasons and theoric context of mergers. The developments in European Union, as the most succesful integration worldwide, have also been considered. The potential effects of regional economic integration on mergers are important for Turkey, that established Customs Union with European Union, in order to forecast the developments to come. Extended and highly competitive market structure, which is an outcome of regional economic integration forced enterprises to merge. In the course of integration mergers are realized on national, community and cross-border seances. Attempts to establish mergers are likely to increse İn Turkey. Once the barriers againist mergers are removed, the potantial effects of regional economic integration on mergers could be realized. vıı
