In this research, it was intended to determine the effect of the instruction materials prepared according to the constructivist learning approach on the student?s achievement and the correlation of gender with this achievement.In this research, semi-experimental method with pre-test and post-test control groups was used, and the research was conducted on two groups (n=58) reading at 10th grade of İzmir Buca High-school at spring semester of 2007-2008 academic year during five weeks. Lectures were instructed with the work sheets and puzzles prepared according to the constructivist learning approach in the experimental group, while the lectures were instructed by traditional lecturing method in control group.Data of the research were collected by using the ?Energy Unit Achievement Test? whose KR-20 reliability coefficient was found as 0,79 and prepared by researcher. At the analysis of data obtained from the research; the Arithmetic Mean, Standard Deviation, KR-20, t-test, Variance Analysis and Scheffé Test were used.Findings obtained at the end of the research showed that the instruction materials prepared according to the constructivist learning approach had positive effects on the student?s achievement. And at the end of the research, it was determined that there was no correlation between the achievement and gender in both experimental and control groups.Yeşim ÖZKAN, 2008
