The analiysis of the analogies used by pysics,chemistry and biology teachers

The analogies, which are known as the oldest ways of communication andhave an important place in the development of the scientific knowledge, are one ofthe most effective teaching techniques. According to many researchers, analogiesshould be used in physics, biology and chemistry lessons frequently to help studentsto comprehend the subjects because analogies are known to be effective especiallywhen teaching abstract scientific concepts.The aim of this study is to determine the frequency of analogy technique andanalogies which are used by high school physic, chemistry and biology teachers inTurkey and to define the similarities and differences of the analogies used in theother countries. In this paper, the reasons why the teachers use analogies are alsoexamined.This research is a descriptive study and it is completed 2005-2006 Academicyear in Ere li, Zonguldak with the help of 25 biology, 29 physic and 21 chemistryteachers of different high schools. A licert type survey is prepared in accordance withthe experiences of different researchers and literature, and the data collected fromthis survey was evaluated in SPSS computer programme.elde edilen veriler SPSS bilgisayar program nda de erlendirilmi0tir.
