The relationship between physical activity and technological age diseases netlessphobia-nomophobia

Due to the development of technology, prevalence of digital tools and insensibly use of social media, various technology age diseases named netlessphobia and nomophobia have emerged in individuals. Psychological disorders such as netlessphobia and nomophobia affect the mental and social development of young people adversely. Thus, protective precautions should be taken to prevent the appearance of netlessphobia and nomophobia among young people. It has been predicted that physical activity can be an effective tool in the protection of the youth from netlessphobia and nomophobia. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the relationship between physical activity and netlessphobia and nomophobia among secondary education students. The sample of the study consists of 986 (n=480 women and n=506 men) volunteer students studying in secondary education schools in the district of Efeler, Aydin in the 2019-2020 academic year. Personal Information Form, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Young Internet Addiction Scale and Nomophobia Scale were implemented as data collection tools in the study. The obtained data were evaluated in the SPSS 25,0 package program at a 95% confidence interval and a significance level of 0,05. In the statistical analysis conducted in the study, it was found that there was a weak negative correlation between the physical activity level of the students and the internet addiction and the nomophobia (p<0,05). Within the lights of the findings obtained from the statistical analysis in the study, it was concluded that the risk of the appearance of netlessphobia and nomophobia in students may decrease, albeit at a low level, depending on the increase in physical activity levels of students. Therefore, the students should be encouraged to participate in physical activities appropriate to their interests. Key Words: Student, Netlessphobia, Nomophobia
