Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to evaluate the pregnancy symptoms and childbirth fears of physically active and inactive pregnant women. The study included 80 physically active and 72 physically inactive women. After recording the physical and demographic characteristics of the pregnant women, the Kaiser Physical Activity Survey was used to determine their physical activity levels. The pregnancy symptoms of the individuals included in the study were assessed using the Pregnancy Symptoms Inventory, and their attitudes towards childbirth fear were evaluated using the Wijma Delivery Expectancy Questionnaire. A difference was found between the physically active and inactive groups in terms of the frequency of symptom occurrence (p=0.001) and the limitation of daily life due to symptoms (p=0.001). However, no difference was found between the physically active and inactive groups in terms of childbirth fears (p=0.773). No relationship was found between childbirth fear and gestational week or educational status in physically active pregnant women. As a result of our study, it was determined that the pregnancy symptoms (such as back pain, fatigue, edema, etc.) were milder in physically active pregnant women. The childbirth fears of physically active and inactive pregnant women were similar. Pregnant women should be encouraged to participate in regular exercise programs. These programs are important for alleviating pregnancy symptoms and improving overall health status.
