Abstract (EN)

Random pattern skin flaps are widely used in Plastic Surgery. Necrosis in distal flap sections resulting from ischemia is a serious problem, increasing the cost of treatment and hospitalization. Recentlu herbal and natural products and pharmacological agents have been used fort he solution of this problem. Sildenafil which increases the flap survival was observed and histopathologically examined and reviewed. It was found that at the group that sildenafil was applied the flap viability increased, excess of new vascular formation and collagen formation increased. Consequently it was clinically proved that sildenafil had useful effects at random pattern rat dorsal skin flaps.
