Effects of flurokloridon herbicide on some biochemical and physiological parameters in Helianthus annuus L. and Vicia sativa L.

Abstract (EN)

In this study, flurochloridone herbicide was applied to Helianthus annuus L.?Reyna? and Vicia sativa L. ?Selçuk 99? plants in development phases after germination. Effects of this herbicide on photosynthetic pigment system, fresh-dry weight parameters, proportional water content and some antioxidant enzyme activities were investigated in the phase after germination (on days 1st, 5th,10thand 15th). Change of endogenous salicylic amount and amount of herbicide residue on leaves on the 15th day were determined in 11, 32, and 72 mM applicated groups, compared to control group, on day 1st and 15th after herbicide application.Flurochloridone in 8.8-72 mM concentration range was applied to Helianthus annuus L.?Reyna? and Vicia sativa L. ?Selçuk 99? plants in comparison with control group.It was determined that flurochloridone caused a decrease on pigment system, fresh-dry weight and proportional water content, and an increase on MDA level in H. annuus, which is a crop plant, and V. sativa, which is the target plant of herbicide. It was identified that the flurochloridone was effective on antioxidant defense system. While activity of GST playing an important part in herbicide detoxification increased in both plants compared to the control, it was determined at higher levels in V. sativa. Changes in activity of SOD taking important part in scavenging ROT were determined depending on herbicide application in both plants. In parallel of changes in SOD activity, changes in POD activity of plant H. annuus, and in both POD and CAT activities of V. sativa were observed. AP and POD activities in H. annuus, SOD, CAT, GST, GR activities, and GSH content in V. sativa were determined in higher levels. Flurochloridone was effective on endogenous SA level, residual amounts for both plants increased depending on increasing concentration of herbicide. However, it was determined that exogenous SA application caused changes on antioxidant defense system and developed herbicide resistance by decreasing negative influences of herbicide especially on physiological parameters and by increasing endogenous SA level.
