Abstract (EN)

Flute education is studied and applied in variety of institutions, including concervatories, fine art faculties, and fine art high schools. Although these institutions might have different objectives and different educational and training programs to reach these objectives, one can say that there is only one way in techniques of flute playing. The fact that in our country classical music is not as popular as it is in Western countries is a limiting factor in classical music education in our country. In this field, and enstrumental trainin in particular, there is no stuructured, standart programs for students. Teachers usually shape their programs depending on their own training and experience. Most of the students of enstrument playing do not have the opportunity of learning how to exercise productively for long hours. They usually complain that they practice a lot, but they can not learn much. It is only natural that there will be a misunderstanding between these students and their tearchers; theacher will think that the student is not practicing much where the student will have no doubt that he is spending enough time for practice. This is because the students are not taught how to exercise productively. Considering the similar problems I have had during my own training and the problems that my own students encounter during their training, I have studied the fundemental rules and principles for a more productive and precise way of practicing. I examined pedagogically and technically the methods of teaching and practicing. In the first section of the present study, I discussed the studying methods by utilizing instructional books, relevant journals in the field, and articles written by famous flutists under the titles, ?how to practice?, ?how long to practice?, ?what to practice?, ?the use and importance of breaks?, the use and importance of playing by memory?. In the second section of the this study, I presented the training methods and techiques by providing the opinions of famous flutists and pedagogists under the titles ?the relationship between teacher and student?, ?what is to teach?, ?what is a good lesson?, ?positive attitudes?, ?group pedagogy?, ?physical constraints?, ?planning a recital?.
