Antibiofilm Activities of Fomes fomentarius, Fomitopsis pinicola and Phellinus hartigii

Abstract (EN)

It is known that natural products have served humanity in different fields for centuries. For this reason, it is necessary to research the existing natural products. By using living things found in nature, such as many plants and mushrooms, although antimicrobial, antifungal, antibiofilm and antioxidant tests have been applied, there are still many natural products waiting to be discovered. Therefore, in this thesis, the antibiofilm, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of ethanol (EtOH) and chloroform extracts of Fomes fomentarius, Fomitopsis pinicola and Phellinus hartigii against 12 E. coli strains, S. aureus, S. aureus MRSA and C. albicans microorganisms were investigated. As a result, it was observed that P. hartigii-EtOH extract had an activating effect on biofilm production at varying levels against E. coli 7, E. coli 9, E. coli 11, E. coli 12 and S. aureus strains. On the other hand, it was observed that the F. fomentarius-EtOH extract had varying degrees of inhibitory effect on biofilm production against S. aureus MRSA and P. hartigii-chloroform extract against S. aureus MRSA and C. albicans strains. In antioxidant studies, the IC50 value of the F. fomentarius-EtOH extract was found to be 0.865 mg/mL, while the IC90 value was calculated as 322.435 mg/mL. In addition, the IC50 value of the P. hartigii-EtOH extract was found to be 0.427 mg/mL, while the IC90 value was calculated as 1.839 mg/mL. No antioxidant activity was observed at the concentrations of F. fomentarius-chloroform, F. pinicola-EtOH, F. pinicola-chloroform, and P. hartigii-chloroform extracts.
