This thesis examines the role of agenda-setting on the political discourse of the Turkish daily newspaper. It focuses influence of the ideological powers on the discourse and also the agenda of the press. The aim of this paper is to show the characteristics of the agenda of the press and discuss those powers that influence media discourse. It analyzes the content and agenda of the press in Turkey during the early parliamentary elections in 2007 which have been held in a fragile and controversial political atmosphere. It seeks to answer this main question: "How does the press construct their agenda during the process of the election campaign? Is the information framing is built depending on a dominant power or ideology? ".
