Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY In this research we have studied structure, use and functions of German "modal" verbs by examining four translated examples to understand whather it is eguivalent to transfer from German (language) into Turkish (language). We have observed correct use of German "modal" verbs and their meaning of deviation in Turkish example sentences. We have confirmed that any word can not replace German sentences of "modal" verbs. Nevertheless eguivalent meaning can be given in Turkish example sentences without using "modal" verbs. Thus we have established that Turkish sentences can be given similar meanings without "modal" verbs. We have also saw in this study that there is not one to one eguivalent "modal" verbs in Turkish sentences. In a result there is not one to one eguivalent "modal" verbs in German and Turkish languages but in Turkish language there is a particular structure and function of "modal" verbs. via
