Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of the study is to examine the place and importance of sports in Islamic religion in terms of functions and reveal the relationship between them. For this purpose, a limitation was made in the study and the place of sports in Islam was examined by considering the personality, social, health and educational functions. Material and Method: Screening method was used as a method. Results: The Qur'an, hadiths, graduate theses and scientific articles, books and journals were mainly used in obtaining the findings. After a general definition of sport, individual, social, health and educational functions of sports are mentioned, the importance and benefits of sport in terms of its functions are emphasized. Particularly in the evaluation and analysis of Islamic issues, theologian experts were consulted. Conclusion: As a result, it has been understood that the personality, social, health and educational functions of sports do not have any negative relationship in terms of Islamic views, thoughts and their implementation, sports support Islamic values in terms of the functions discussed, and Islamic values are compatible with the functions of sports. In this respect, it can be guided by a more comprehensive and detailed examination of the subject with all the functions of sports, especially by investigating Islam closely and correctly in the field of sports.
