Performance review of Fortune 500 logistics companies in Turkey using a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making model

The logistics sector is one of the strategic sectors that ensures the efficient functioning of supply chains and directly affects the economic competitiveness of countries. The increase in global trade volume necessitates the systematic evaluation of the operational and financial performance of logistics companies. In this context, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods are widely used in performance measurement and allow for the objective analysis of the multi-dimensional structures of businesses. The aim of this study is to evaluate the financial performance of logistics companies included in the Fortune 500 Turkey list using an MCDM model that integrates objective weighting and ranking methods. In the study, criterion weights were objectively determined using MEREC (Method based on the Removal Effects of Criteria), LOGSTA (Logarithmic Normalization and Standard Deviation), and SPC (Symmetry Point of Criterion) methods; and the performance rankings of alternative companies were obtained using the WEDBA (Weighted Euclidean Distance Based Approach) method. In addition, the robustness of the proposed model was tested by performing sensitivity and consistency analyses under different weighting scenarios. The research results show that the integrated use of MEREC, LOGSTA, and SPC methods produces more comprehensive and balanced results in determining the importance levels of the criteria. It was determined that the performance rankings obtained with the WEDBA method were largely maintained in different weighting scenarios, and the model exhibited a high level of stability. These findings contribute to the objective and multi-dimensional evaluation of the financial performance of logistics firms, while providing important outputs that can be used in decision-making processes for industry managers and policymakers.
