Evaluating the effectiveness of photo-activated disinfection on bonding of porcelain inlay restorations to the caries-effected dentine

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of PAD method on bonding of porcelain inlays to dentine structure of carious and non-carious teeth. In this study 120 extracted molar teeth were embedded in acrylic resin and inlay cavities were prepared on each tooth by using a parallelometer. Than 120 ceramic inlay were fabricated with CEREC AC CAD-CAM device by using Lava Ultimate Restorative blocks. PAD method was applied to the half of the specimens (ICG and 810nm diode laser with 128j/cm² energy density). Half of the specimens were cemented with Variolink N and the other half of the specimens were cemented with Panavia F2.0 and 8 groups were created. After cementation procedure specimens were thermal cycled 5000 times (5 °C-55 °C). In each group n=25 microbars with 1 mm² surface area were sectioned from 15 teeth using a Isomet saw. Microtensile test was performed with the crosshead speed of 1mm/min. Bond strength values were statistically analyzed by using 3-way ANOVA, Student t and data of fracture results were evaluated with Fisher-Freeman Halton test methods. According to the statistical analyses of bond strengths, there were no significant difference between carious affected and sound teeth both cemented with Variolink N and Panavia F 2.0 resin cements (p:0.079; p>0.05). Statistically higher bond strength values were observed with Variolink N resin cement with carious and non-carious teeth. PAD increased bond strengths of resin nano ceramics to caries affected and sound dentin statistically (p:0.001; p<0.01). Application of PAD method increased the bond strengths of Panavia F2.0 and Variolink N resin cements to carious affected and sound teeth (p:0.001; p<0.01). In all groups adhesive failures were observed in dentine - cement interface. SEM analyses revealed that hybrid layers and resin tags were formed at resin dentine interface.
