Abstract (EN)

This study has been laid out to go about the life of Louis IX. throughly, who acceded to the throne when he was 12 and the events occured in his time. Louis IX. was born on April 25,1214. He had been a good ruler since his crowning in 1226, to his death in 1270. He had survived greath dangers due to his love for his people and God. And that rendered French people's love and respect to their king imprescriptible. Even their failure at Crusade didn't waver the King's place in the people's eyes. Because the king wanted the good of his people under all circumstances and has done a lot for this purpose. He has played an important role in the evolution of his country to modern France with his edicts and fair management. The king, who carried out two consecutive Crusades, did not shyly give up after his defeat on the first Campaign He was able to stand out from the kings of Europe thanks to this belief and acumen. He was able to impress even his enemies with his honest behavior. He was recognized as Devout Louis because he followed God's orders faithfully and he was fighfully declared Saint after his death, by Pope Martin IV. and the Cardinals. Even though there are a lot of sources translated into Turkish or written originally in Turkish about Crusades, there's too little about Louis IX. 7th and 8th Crusade. Also there is not any detailed sources in Turkish about Louis IX's time. It's hoped that this study will contribute to this matter. The sources materials of this study is mostly foreign. This study will contribute to the literature with it's original nature, to be of help to Turkish researchers.
