Turkish statesmen according to French Crusaders sources

The French and Turks come to Middle East appraximately at the same time, with 26 years difference. Whereas the Turks coming from the east and Central Asia were Muslims and had Asian character, the French coming from the west were of Latin Origin and Christian. Turning points of world history, like the conquer of Anatolia by the Turks and the Crusades, resulted in the interaction of those two communities until mid XV. Century, that is the medieval. Accordingly, the relationships of these several Centuries were dealt in the works of the historians of bath sides. Actually these interactions were related to militarily affairs. How did the French-Turkish relations, as a part of Muslim-Christian clashes in medieval, were reflected in the French Crusader sources? Though it is certain that antagonism played the key role, what kind of perceptions to wards the Turks, Turkish state and statesmen were seen in the French historical sources? At first, I intended to purseve these perceptions regarding Turkish statesmen. During Crusaders whom and what did '' Turk'' mean to French? I provided general information on France and the French. Then, I introduced the French historical sources belonging to time period dealt in this study. The political situation of the Turks at that period was also probed as a part of the subject. Later, Turkish identity, the perception on Turkey, Turkish way of life and culture were analyzed according to French crusader records. How did the French crusaders see the Turkish ruler and ruling understanding? The palace and the views on certain statesmen were examined in different topics. The often seen ruler names from the ''Büyük Selçuklu'', "Türkiye Selçuklu", "Danişmendli'', "Artuklu" and information on their "emir"s were analyzed at a seperate chapter. Accordingly, important historical information was collected; on the other hand, the Perception of the French crusaders were reveated from certain personalities.
