The use of french songs as an authentic lesson material in French as a foreign language

This research is a descriptive study on using French songs as a lesson and self improvement material mainly in the French language teaching area by referring extensively to the related scientific resources. The population is the French songs written after 1950, named as ?Chanson Populaire Française? and the sample is sixty six songs chosen among them.In the First Chapter, after a brief background, problem, purpose, importance, limitations of the study and definitions are explained.In Chapter Two, a brief historical account of French as a second langue in our country is introduced; then benefits of using French songs in French teaching area are mentioned.In Chapter Three, technical and linguistic criteria for choosing songs as a lesson material are explained with the examples compliant with these criteria.In Chapter Four, how to use songs which complie with technical and linguistic criteria as a lesson material, is shown with the examples.
