Abstract (EN)

The Comparison Of Emphatic Tendencies Among The Students At The Firat University Sports Sciences Faculty With Their Desired Leadership Behaviour In this study, the relationships between the empathic trends of the students studying at Firat University Sports Sciences Faculty and leadership behaviour preferred in sports were investigated. The population of the study consists of a total of 400 students, of whom 100 students were at the department of Physical Education Teaching, 100 students at the training department, 100 students at the management department and 100 students at the recreation department. 148 of the students were female while 252 were male. In data collection, the Empathic Tendency Scale (ETS) prepared by Dökmen (1988) and the preferred leadership behaviour form of the Leadership Scale for Sport (LSS), which was prepared by Chelladurai and Saleh (1980) and adapted and tested for reliability by Tiryaki (2000), was used. Independent t test, one-way variance analysis, Pearson Correlation of Moments Multiplication technique were used to analyse the data depending on variables. Tukey test was conducted to determine the source of difference in data which were found significantly different as a result of the variance analysis. The relationship between the empathic tendency scores and the sub-dimensions of the preferred leadership behaviors were evaluated according to gender, age, department, class, branch, sport and captainship background. As a result of our study; There was a significant relationship between the students' empathic tendency scores and the sub-dimensions of the preferred leadership behaviors; democratic behavior, education-training and autocratic behavior. There was no significant relationship between positive feedback and social support subscales and empathic tendency scores. Keywords: Physical Education, Sports, Education, Leadership, Empathy
