Investigation of vibrations resulting from the machining parameters at milling operations

Abstract (EN)

Aim of this study is determining most suitable parameter of manipulation via investigation effect of parameters of manipulation to vibrations which occur on machine tool and surface quality which is obtained in operations of milling. 132, 200, 308 m/min cutting speed, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm/tooth proceeding, 1,1.5 mm depth of cutting and 1,2,4 cutting edge number were used. Operation was done on these parameters of manipulation and AISI 1050 test equipment which has 100x50x20 dimensions. 72 tests were made in total. Vibrations, cutting powers, and then roughness values of surface were measured during operation of lifting of chipping. As result of these measures, an assessment was made through investigation of alterations which occur on roughness of surface depend on relationship between occurred cutting powers and acceleration levels of vibration. Tendency overlap each other in graphics brings up the relationship between acceleration level of vibration and roughness values of surface when cutting speed-acceleration level of vibration and cutting speed-roughness values of surface, proceeding amount-acceleration level of vibration and proceeding amount-roughness values of surface graphics which obtained as result of tests are compared in aspect of acceleration levels of vibration and roughness values of surface. When acceleration levels of vibration raised, a raise was also observed in roughness values of surface. This situation showed that negative effect of vibrations on roughness of surface. Again in this study, a raise was seen on acceleration level of vibration unexceptionally in all tests with raise of depth of cutting and cutting tooth number. Since depth of cutting and number of cutting tooth have been raising contact area between work piece and cutting team, it was determined that it also has been raising frequencies of vibration which occurred in system. When different milling operation parameters were evaluated; for minimum acceleration level of vibration, most suitable parameter of manipulation became 132m/min cutting speed, 0.05 mm/tooth proceeding amount, 1 mm depth of cutting and 1 cutting edge. And for minimum roughness value of surface, most suitable parameter of manipulation became 308m/min cutting speed, 0.05 mm/tooth proceeding amount and 1 cutting edge.
