Abstract (EN)

During the cello education period, there are exercises and etudes written in accordance with each level. These etudes and exercises play an important role in the technical and musical development of the performer. Exercises are usually short passage studies on specific technical development, while etudes contain the basic elements of musical expression such as specific techniques, tonality, measure, musical phrasing and dynamics. In this context, exercise and etude books written by many cellist composers also contribute to the preparation process for great works such as sonatas and concertos, which have gained a place in the cello literature. German cellist and composer Friedrich Grützmacher's method numbered 13- 24 in Op.38 volume 2 has an important place in the cello repertoire. In each of the etudes analyzed in this study from technical, musical and structural points of view, it is seen that it offers a comprehensive palette of studies, and at the same time, apart from the variety of musical interpretation, it contains versatile studies especially for right and left hand techniques. This thesis aims to introduce Grützmacher's life, music and cello students and performers to Grützmacher's life, music and musical expressions simultaneously with the development of basic cello techniques such as changes of position, double voices, and harpsichord techniques. Key Words: Grützmacher, Cello, Etude, Technique, Study
