Abstract (EN)
Background: Fulminan liver failure is described as detoriation of liver function tests suddenly with no previous liver disease. It's a period with high mortality rates, possibility of recovery, and usually run on with hepatic encephalopathy. The aim of this study is to reveal the factors that effect the recovery of brain functions of fulminan liver disease cases after liver transplantation. Material And Method: Totally 69 patients included for this study, that have been allocated for urgent declaration list between 2012 and 2015 at Inonu University Institute Of Liver Transplantation. Patients divided to two groups. The amount of group 1 was 52, and group 2 was 17. All patients evaluated by encephalopathy grade, pupil reflex and convulsions preoperatively. Groups compared by age, body mass index (BMI), etiologic factors, preoperative laboratuary tests, transplantation type, mortality rates and encephalopathy grades. Results: Results are meaningful between two groups by prothrombin time, INR and total bilirubin levels. There are no differences by amoniac levels between two groups. Sodium and potassium levels detected as meaningful at some patients, but mean levels of two groups are istatistically do not differ. Discussion: The recovery of HE after transplantation is important for mortality and morbidity. In order to evaluate the recovery of HE preoperatively, West-Haven Clinic Staging, serum INR, PT, and Total bilirubin levels can be useful. Result: Recovery of HE after liver transplantation at FLD patients, is statistically correlated with West-Haven Clinic Staging. Especially with high stages (such as stage 4), recovery of HE is unusual. Also, high serum INR, PT, bilirubin, sodium and potassium levels are detected with high morbidity of HE in this study.
