Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine Beşiktaş Gymnastic Club and Kardemir Karabükspor fans' motivations behind sport consuption behaviour according to seven sub-dimensions and reveal whether there are differences or not as to demographic variables. The universe of the research consists of 361 Kardemir Karabukspor and 259 Besiktas Gymnastic Club fans. "Motivation Scale for Sport Consumption (MSSC)" which was developed by Trail and James in 2001 was used in the research as a measurement tool. ANOVA and T-tests were applied to determine whether there are meaningful differences or not according to demographic variables in motivations for sport consumption of participants. In addition, Tukey Test was used to determine the relations among the sub-groups of the demographic variables. According to the obtained data in the research, statistically meaningful significances were found in aesthetic and physical skill according to gender, vicarious achievement and physical skill according to marital status, vicarious achievement according to educational status and escape according to monthly income level variables for Kardemir Karabukspor fans. Vicarious achievement and aesthetic were determined in only marital status variables for Beşiktaş Gymnastic Club fans. As a result, regarding to participants' motivations for sport consumption it was proved that fans of more successful teams and fans who live in big cities are more motivated to attend football matches.
