Abstract (EN)

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between football players' anger and anger expression styles and their aggression levels. Methods: This quantitative study was carried out by using relational scanning model. The setting of the study consists of footballers of TFF Super League, Sport Toto 1st League, 2nd League, 3rd League and Regional Amateur League football teams in 2018-2019 football season. The samples consist of 597 people playing football in TFF Super League, Sport Toto 1st League, 2nd League, 3rd League and Regional Amateur League selected by convenience sampling methodology. In the study, "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher, "Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale", developed by Spielberger ve ark. (1983) and adapted to Turkish by Özer (1994) and "the Aggression Scale" developed by Buss and Perry (1992) and adapted to Turkish culture by Demirtaş Madran (2012) were used as data collection tools. The obtained data were transferred to computer, and in the data analysis and interpretation, descriptive statistics (frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation), t-test, one-factor analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA) were used and Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated. Results: A significant positive correlation was found between anger control and aggression levels of football players playing in different leagues. Furthermore, when the average scores obtained from the players playing in different leagues were examined, it was seen that the level of anger and aggression of the players was moderate. Conclusion: When the Anger and Anger Expression Scale was examined, it was found that while there were significant differences according to income status, level of sportsmanship, sports age, disability status, yellow and red card sight status, there was no significant difference according to age, marital status, educational status and position played.
