Abstract (EN)

In this study, a detailed examination of G. Rossini's Barber of Seville, which was staged at Ankara State Opera and Ballet on November 30, 2019, is studied by the researcher. In order to examine in more detail, the perspective of the opera composer, the period in which he lived, his personal life and historical events were studied by using the literature review method. For the same purpose, the theater play and the life of its author, which is directly effected to the composition of the opera, are also included in the text. This play of Beaumarchais basically ensures that the French Revolution and the philosophical movements behind it are reflected to the audience with ordinary realities. From this point of view, "freedom", which is one of the three main ideas of the French Revolution, represents also the main idea of the director. This perspective also constitutes a main body for the staging tools such as acting style, decor, costume design and lighting. In the study, the director's notebook of the staged play is presented in sections. Decor design, decor sketches and visuals, costume sketches and applications, light plans, accessory lists are also presented in the text. At the same time, photographs taken from the performance of the first play with the audience are included.
