Reflection of the basic design education given at Gazi Üniversity Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Art Major on the art workshops of senior students

In this study, it is aimed to designate the reflection of the Basic Design Lecture that is taught at Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Art Major on senior students? art workshops.This research was performed in 2012-2013 academic year with senior students studying in the Art Workshop of Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Art Major. The scope of the study covers Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Art Atelier-Art Major Study experts and the sampling of the study covers senior students who have been selected randomly are equipollent compositions of 39 students have been used studying at Art Painting Workshop of Gazi University Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts, Art Major.Qualitative analysis methods have been employed in this study, and as a data collection method, tutorial records regarding the basic design course as well as the evaluation of composition study by experts have also been included. Finalized student works at the end of the practice have been submitted to receive the opinions of two specialists that have been selected from Gazi University Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts. The works of students have been evaluated according to the designated criteria.At the end of this study, it has been concluded that the principles and the components of the Basic Design Education form the basis of arts education, and they are the viindispensable elements of the future art applications. It has been stated that sufficient importance is needed to be attached to this course, and a requirement about performing certain different applications in the Basic Design courses education has been observed. Through the teaching process the principles and basic elements of the Basic Design lessons, it has been realised tha it is not reflected by application of senior degree students. Also it has been decided that are some imperfections of understanding of importance applicability of Basic Design Lecture are not comprehened by students.Key Words: Art Education, Basic Design, Design Principles, Design Components, Art Studio, Reflection
