The effect of instructional software prepared based on Gagné's theory of instructional design on students' academic achievement

11 ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to reveal that to the effects of Instructional software which is designed according to Gagne's Instructional Design Model on the academic success of sixth grade students' English lessons. Within the content of the research, "Planned Future Tense Activities" which was chosen among the subjects in the syllabus of sixth grades has been dealt. This research has been carried out on sixth grades at Gülen Muharrem Pakoğlu primary school. All students from sixth grades are selected as an experimental group and applied pre and final tests. The group attending to the research was applied a pre test after teaching the subject according to the classic teaching model. After teaching the subject by Instructional software, this group were applied a final test. According to the results of this research it was found out that the average of the pre tesf s points of experimental group who studied in accordance with classical teaching model was 64,75. The average of final test's points of the experimental group was 74,42. The found t point which was found by consequence oft analysis was determined as 2,273. Table t point in the level.05 was 1.726. Because of this results it is understood that the results were the advantage of final test. Because of found t point was bigger than table t point in level.05, it became clear that the difference between the points of pre and final tests was meaningful. Due to this research's results, it can be said that the Instructional software which is designed according to Gagne's Instructional Design Model has positive effects on the academic success of students.
