Abstract (EN)
Galvanizing is one of the most common methods for protecting steel from corrosion. Hot dip galvanizing method is applied after the material is formed. Continuous galvanizing method is applied to the material first, then shaped. The processes such as cutting, punching and forming during the shaping cause the coating to be interrupted. In these areas, zinc plating and steel are exposed to the atmosphere. The cut-egde areas are protected from corrosion by cathodic protection. In this study, the relationship between coating thickness and corrosion was investigated. As a result of electrochemical analysis, as the coating thickness increased, the corrosion potential decreased. Visual studies also supported the results of electrochemical analysis; Red rust rate decreased as galvanized coating thickness increased.
