Özet (EN)
Molecular Detection of Human bocavirus (HBoV) in Stool Samples in Patients with Acute Gastroenteritis Acute viral gastroenteritis in human beings is the most important cause of morbidity and mortality seen in all age groups in worldwide. Viral pathogens that cause acute gastroenteritis are rotavirus (RV), norovirus (NoV), sapovirus (SaV), adenovirus (HAdV), astrovirus (HastV) and bocavirus (HBoV). The purpose of this study is to investigate the presence of HBoV and its types in patients acute gastroenteritis by using real time PCR. A total of 96 patients who were admitted to the Adnan Menderes University Training and Research Hospital Pediatrics Clinic and Emergency Department of Medical Microbiology between November 2013 and October 2014 were included in the study. Cause of gastroenteritis viruses in stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis were examined using multipleks PCR. Determining presence of HBoV and its types were examined using real time PCR. It was detected that 40 (41.1%) and 6 (6.2%) samples were positive in all samples rotavirus and norovirus, respectively by multiplex RT-PCR. Neither enteric adenovirus nor astrovirus were detected in the examples. Presence of HBoV was detected in 2 (2%) samples. According to results of typing HBoV, it was determined that positive cases were HBoV type 1. Hbov 2, 3 and 4 were not detected. Mixed infections with RV were observed in 2 (100%) patients. As a result, in patients with acute gastroenteritis as child age mostly it was determined that HBoV type 1 was 2% in our study. 41.6% and 6.2% of all stool samples were rotavirus pozitivity and norovirus pozitivity, respectively as etiologic agents. Determination of viral factor in gastroenteritis will reduce the cost of antibiotics by preventing the usage of them unnecessarily and will reduce development of resistance to antibiotics in pathogen.
