OBJECTIVE: The detection of the diagnosis sensitivity in terms of the colonic and extra colonic of CT colonography and Abdominal CT in the patients? group who are suspected to have gastrointestinal malignancy.MATERİAL AND METHOD: Colonic and extra colonic findings, which were seen on 27 patients who were taken CT colonography and Abdominal CT within one year because of the suspicion of gastrointestinal malignancy, were interpreted by 2 radiologists. And the variation among each of the radiologists was examined by the estimation of the kappa value. The findings in the colon in both of the visualization modelings were studied according to the increase of the intestine clustrum and the polyp presence. However, the extra colonic findings were classified as major and minor. In addition to the negative and positive prevision value of the both visualization techniques in terms of showing radio pathologies of these techniques, the specificity and sensitivity of them were compared. Moreover, the radiation dose which had been given per patient between Abdominal CT and was CT colonography compared.FINDINGS: While 11 of the patients (%92) out of 12, who had been diagnosed as malignacy histopathological, were diagnosed with CT colonography, 4 (%33) patients were able to diagnosed correctly with Abdominal CT. PPV, NPV, the sensitivity and specificity of CT colonography in terms of showing the colonic lesions were found in turn , %78, %92, %92, %80, whereas Abdominal CT was found as %57, %60, %33, %80. The kappa value of CT colonography increase among the researchers was 0.74 with Abdominal CT and 0.92 with CT colonography and the consistency was determined as good. CT colonography on 5 patients who had been operated by being diagnoised as colonic carcinoma and on 2 patients who had been applied polypectomy, the lesions could not be detected with Abdominal CT.18 major findinds out of colon were diagnosed in total 13 patients with the histopathological results or watching closely PPV, NPV, the sensitivity and specificity of CT colonography in terms of showing the external colonic major findings were found in turn, %92.8, % 100, % 100, %92.8, whereas Abdominal CT was diagnosed as %92.8, %100, %84.6, %92.8. The millimetric metastasis in the liver and the pericecum lymphadenoma on 2 patients, who had been operated with the diagnosis of cecum and rectum adenocarcinoma, was detected with BTK, whereas it could not be detected with Abdominal CT. The kappa value among the interpreters was 1 in abdominal CT and 0.92 in CT colonography and the consistency among the interpreters was seen excellent. When the average radiation doses given to the patients were compared, on average each of the patient was exposed to 5.76 MG doses in total in pronation position and supinat position in BTK, whereas This was found as 11.58 MG in Abdomen CT.CONCLUSION: To conclude, BTK which is applied as intravenous opaque, is not only sensitive to diagnose mass and polyp but also it can eliminate the necessity of extra examination for phase on the patients who have been detected malignacy in terms of external colonic findings and we consider that it may be determining in directing the treatment with diagnosis.
