Abstract (EN)

In this study the life and the waqfs of Gazanfer Agha, a 16th century statesman, are treated. He was captured in 1559 and served in the entourage of Prince Selim. As Selim had succeeded the throne, Gazanfer Agha, has come to İstanbul with Selim II. During the reign of Murad III he heaped up a tremendous wealth as Head of Privy Chamber (Hasodabaşı) and agha of the Bab as-Saada (Babüssaade Ağası). In the time of Mehmed III, his wealth and efficiency grew larger in various fields. Within the piece I tried to mention his life, relations with his family members and his patronage in cultural, political, military and architectural terms. Also the waqfs he founded and the ways they were monetarily maintained are other aspects that I examined in this thesis.
