Determiniation of the relations between some variables and individual piano practice techniques of the students of the Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, music education main branch

These research has been made in order to determine the methods of individual piano practicing of students of Gazi University Faculty Of Education Fine Arts Department Music Education Main Branch and then to find if these methods have any relation with some varieties, also to provide students? developing their working methods, to solve the problems and in the end help to increase the quality of piano educationThis research is a descriptive study because of its aim and the methods used to reach this aim and the quality of the datas.Fort his research, the sources in Turkey and abroad were investigated and the importance and place of personal piano education has been determined.In addition, by the help of surveys, students? techniques which they applied to in their individual studies are defined, the distribution of these techniques according to variables of `grade level? and `daily parted time to indivudual piano studies? are determined. The relation level between these independent variables and students? techniques that they use is counted up and commented.Consequently, it is found that there is a meaningful relation between class level and the situation `using private signs and colourful pencils at important points while studying etudes and pieces?; between the time spent in playing piano and using one or more techniques used in scale works, using one or some of techniques used in arpeggio works, listening to the piece or etude, which is studied, from the records while studying. This relation level is determined as low. Also it is found that there is a meaningful relation between class level and carriying out the individual piano practicing through a plan and between the period spent in playing piano in a day and using one or some of warm up activities; and this relation is determined as average.Therefore; it is necessary that students should increase studying time to use different techniques in playing piano and they should be encouraged by their teachers to use their individual working process effectively and productively. Individual working process should be considered more important.
